Microsoft Announces Surface 3 With Full Windows 8.1
APR 7, 2015DAVID CURRY
Microsoft has not found a lot of SUCCEEDED with it's tablet business. but in last year 2014 we heard a news it tripled sales with the "Surface Pro 3". Now it's launching the 'Surface 3', the cheaper brother finally running on Windows 8.1 instead of RT.
When the 'Surface' first launched it came with new version of Windows 8, that called RT. Instead of fully fledged desktop Window's. RT offered part desktop, part mobile in a -tablet form factor, something nobody seemed to like.
'Windows RT' was shunned by the press and customer's worldwide selling only 900,000 units out of an inventory of over three million, Microsoft lost millions $ in unsold inventory and advertising forcing the company to down size it's tablet plans for a few year's.
After three years (2015), Microsoft has finally removed Window 8 (Windows RT). Then the Surface 3 runs with Windows 8.1 and will get the free update to Window's 10 once again it arrives this summer.
It was a quiet launch by Microsoft most like due to the low popularity of the Surface 8.1 tablet. It feature's the same design but with new dimension's, moving from a 10.6 inch to a great full HD *10.8 display.
That brings with it some issues most important that every attachable keyboard's has now been branded obsolete. This change also make's aspect ratio to 3:2 which means it is a easier to hold in portrait .
Internally the Surface 3 runs on an -Intel Atom chipset, 2GB or 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB SSD storage . Microsoft will offers the tablet at two price points : $499 and $599. There will also be an 'LTE' option available for an $100 extra, but Microsoft will launch that later in this year.
Microsoft playing the tablet market in a more secluded fashions from its flashy Time Square launch three years ago . This might work out especially with the downturn in 'iPad' sales throughout 2014.
